Users who find Apple's default trackpad movements frustrating will love Scroll Reverser for Mac as it allows this and some other options to be changed easily, making it a potentially useful addition to a system. Have to uncheck natural scroll on the mac for it to work. All good on the server (win), but inverted on the client (mac).

The application doesn't automatically check for updates but this is another option the user can turn on via the preferences menu. 2 Macs with master sent to natural and client scrolls in reverse direction. A preferences menu also allows for changes to be made to left and right movements, as well as when the program starts. Clicking on this drops a menu where the functions can be reverted back to normal. A small window alerts the user to the changes, and directs them to a small icon located on the Mac's top menu bar.

However, the program only reverses scrolling and doesn't allow any changes to three-finger and four-finger swipes. The program applies these changes without any problems. For many, this is the opposite of the most intuitive movement, which would be to swipe down to move lower on a page. Typically, the pad scrolls down when users move two fingers up the pad. Scroll Reverser for Mac easily installs with a drag and drop into the Applications folder and applies changes to the trackpad instantly. This program will be welcomed by those who feel they are missing the natural scrolling they enjoy on iOS devices. I tested some, most are OK, one of them is better, feels better, but I won't insist on its name or author name in order to not favour any one of them.Scroll Reverser for Mac does just what its title says it changes the movements for changing Web page views, and does so in an easy-to-use application. Those "SmoothScroll" extensions for Visual Studio only exist to add the missing appropriate mouse message handling to Visual Studio. It just is that it does not handle them as some other applications.

Using my Mac trackpad through a RDP session to a Windows machine where I run Visual Studio, those appropriate messages reach Visual Studio.

That is, how to translate those smaller ticks to smaller scroll increments (possibly sub-line scrolling) or accumulating them for a while until some threshold is reached at which point it scrolls a line or whatever unit feels appropriate for the application. Those messages deliver to the application a count of "ticks smaller than a notch" and the applications have to decide how to handle them. To support smooth scroll, and even more accelerated scroll depending on the way you "rotate" the wheel, and match more or less properly what happens when you move fingers through a trackpad, slowly or quickly, the application has to handle additional Windows API messages. You know those mouse wheels which had notches which you could feel when rotating the wheel. So it lives in the late '90s when scroll was a matter of knowing "by how many lines should I scroll the content when I get 1 notch from the mouse wheel".

The code editor of Visual Studio (2019) does not do so. In order to implement proper reaction to "smooth scrolling", as modern mice can support it or trackpads, the application best needs to handle some specific messages in the proper way. There are multiple ways to support scrolling inside an application, from a developer point of view.
